Sia: Nostalgic for the Present is in select cinemas this week.
Sia has never followed the usual pop-star playbook, and her latest red carpet appearance was no exception. The singer stole the spotlight at the Los Angeles screening of Sia: Nostalgic for the Present, arriving in a dreamy blush-toned couture gown layered with voluminous ruffles, soft tulle, and feathered details that felt like an extension of the surreal visual world she's created throughout her career.
The special screening arrives as Trafalgar Releasing's Sia: Nostalgic for the Present begins its limited theatrical run in select cinemas on July 23. Directed by Sia and longtime creative collaborator Daniel Askill, the film captures the artist's acclaimed 2016 Coachella performance and subsequent world tour, now remastered for its tenth anniversary and presented as a standalone cinematic experience.
Rather than following the familiar concert film formula, Nostalgic for the Present blends live music, cinematic storytelling, and Ryan Heffington's signature choreography into an immersive visual journey. The film features performances from Maddie Ziegler (The Fallout), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Gaby Hoffmann (Transparent), and Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery), bringing Sia's dreamlike creative vision to life on the big screen.
The Los Angeles premiere also brought together Askill, Kathy Griffin, and other guests, with Sia warmly greeting attendees throughout the evening. The celebration felt less like a typical movie premiere and more like a reunion honoring a production that left a lasting impression on audiences nearly a decade ago.
