The series adapts Bret Easton Ellis' acclaimed novel and transports viewers to 1980s Los Angeles, where privileged prep school students become entangled in a web of desire, jealousy, obsession, and murder. At the center is aspiring writer Bret (Igby Rigney), whose world begins to unravel after mysterious transfer student Robert Mallory (Homer Gere) arrives just as a serial killer known as The Trawler terrorizes the city.

The Shards premieres with its first two episodes on Wednesday, August 5, on FX and Hulu, with new episodes released weekly.
