Pumpkins have always been Calabasas’ unofficial calling card; legend has it the town got its name when a rancher spilled a wagonload of them along Mulholland back in the 1800s. This fall, that legacy takes on its most luminous form as Night of the Jack returns for its eighth season, transforming King Gillette Ranch into a glowing Halloween wonderland from September 26 through November 1.
Part immersive art show, part seasonal ritual, and part food festival, Night of the Jack has become a non-negotiable on the LA fall calendar. Last year alone, more than 100,000 visitors—families, date nights, and the occasional celebrity crew—made the pilgrimage to Calabasas to walk its mile-long trail of glowing installations. Think: forests blanketed in projection-mapped light, carved gourds that rival fine art sculptures, and an atmosphere that toes the line between eerie and enchanting without veering into jump-scare territory.

This season, the creators are promising their most ambitious year yet. The mile-long trail will unveil over 30 new scenes, complete with pixel technology that turns the ranch into a living canvas. Guests can pause to watch live pumpkin carvers at work, kids can indulge in face painting and light-up souvenirs, and adults can retreat to The Spookeasy, where craft cocktails and hot cider make for the coziest kind of seasonal escape.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an LA Halloween without a buzzy food lineup, and Night of the Jack continues to deliver. This year’s roster of food trucks reads like a curated street-food festival: Cousins Maine Lobster, Baby’s Burgers, Vivace Pizza, Cerda Vega Tacos, The Twist Churro Truck, and more will park at the ranch throughout the run. It’s equal parts Instagrammable and indulgent—lobster rolls before glowing pumpkins, churros after a projection tunnel.
“Every season, we push ourselves to outdo the last, and 2025 is no exception,” says co-founder Ben Biscotti, who has helped shape Night of the Jack into one of Southern California’s most recognizable fall traditions. “This event has become part of so many families’ annual ritual, and we can’t wait to share what’s in store this year.”
And of course, Night of the Jack wouldn’t be complete without a little Hollywood magic. Over the years, the illuminated trail has quietly become a favorite seasonal outing for the city’s A-list. Kim Kardashian has been spotted weaving through the glowing pumpkin tunnel with her kids, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul (yes, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman reunited off-screen) have both made appearances, and plenty of other familiar faces from the entertainment world treat it as an annual tradition. In a town that thrives on spectacle, this is the rare event where celebrities and locals gather under the same orange glow, trading red carpets for pumpkin-lit pathways.

Tickets start at $29 and sell fast, with VIP options for those who prefer skipping the lines and sipping at the private 100-person bar. But part of the magic here is how democratic the event feels: kids in strollers, couples on first dates, and groups of friends all wind their way down the same glowing trail, each experiencing their own version of fall in Los Angeles.
